Ryan Smolkin and Clark Harrop bring the laughs at the CFA Awards Gala in Niagara Falls
The 2017 CFA National Convention went out with a bang on Monday night with an Awards Gala recognizing the past year of franchising excellence.
Co-hosted by the man, the myth, the legend… Ryan Smolkin, founder of Smoke’s Poutinerie, and Clark Harrop of McDonald’s Canada, the night was filled with slick dance moves, the reveal of Smoke’s long lost brother (hint: it’s Ronald McDonald), and a special rendition of Skid Row’s “I Remember You” for CFA’s President and CEO Lorraine McLachlan courtesy of the legend himself.
Packed with a who’s who of franchising, the Gala recognized franchise systems that have demonstrated excellence in their field through superior franchisee relations, leadership, business planning, marketing, training and support, ongoing operations and communications.
For the first time ever, two franchise systems were presented the highly coveted CFA Awards of Excellence in Franchising Grand Prize; one for Traditional Franchises (those with bricks and motor locations), and one for Non-Traditional Franchises (those that are mobile or home based).
Symposium Café took home the Grand Prize for Traditional Franchise while Par-T-Perfect Party Planners won big for Non-Traditional Franchise. Below is a list of the franchise systems who were contenders for the Grand Prize after winning gold in their category.
