Mary Brown’s Chicken & Taters Expands Internationally

Mary Brown’s Chicken & Taters, Canada’s largest chicken quick serve restaurant, is expanding operations internationally

Markham, Ontario, May 2, 2018 – Hadi Chahin, President & COO of Mary Brown’s, made the announcement in conjunction with the appointment of Wael Chehade to the position of Vice President of International Development. Chehade brings with him more than 15 years of managerial experience in the food & beverage industry, including leading the expansion of Second Cup Coffee Company Inc. to over 40 regions around the globe.

Chahin has ambitious goals for the franchise, currently at 140 locations across Canada. He says, “We are on target to reach 200 stores by 2020, including domestic and international openings. Mary Brown’s more than doubled its store count in Canada since 2007. I believe our new target is not only achievable, it may, in fact, be conservative.”

Mary Brown’s has had same store sales increases every year for the past 14 years and has received the Canadian Franchise Association’s ‘Franchisee Choice Award’ for 8 years consecutively. It’s an honour few franchises have received – and one Chahin feels is a key part of Mary Brown’s success. “Our franchisees get the support they need to excel – a handcrafted menu that our Guests love, a strong support team at home office and in the field and operational methods that have been time tested for 50 years. This award is testimony to that.”

Wael Chehade adds, “A respected Canadian brand like Mary Brown’s will do extremely well overseas. Not only do we have the infrastructure to launch globally, but we have the support in place to sustain success in the long term.”

Mary Brown’s recently rebranded with an updated logo and a trendy new look for store interiors. Chahin says this rejuvenation is indicative of Mary Brown’s focus on driving the brand forward – including this international launch. “With Wael leading our launch into other markets, I’m certain that we will attract international investors looking for an exciting, lucrative opportunity.” He summarizes, “I am confident that Mary Brown’s Chicken & Taters has a bright future in Canada and around the world.”
