Great Clips goes 150 for Canada’s 150th

Latest salon opening a Canadian milestone for world’s largest salon franchise

FORT SASKATCHEWAN, ABDec. 12, 2017 /CNW/ – Great Clips, Inc. has reached a major milestone with the grand opening of its 150th Canadian location. The official ribbon cutting at the Great Clips Southpointe Estates on Southfort Drive, was attended by Rob Goggins, COO of Great Clips, Inc. and Great Clips franchisee Yasir Saeed. Great Clips opened its first Canadian franchise in Vancouver more than 20 years ago.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating our 150th location during this important anniversary year for Canada,” Goggins says. “Since the first franchise opening, Great Clips has had a rich history of embracing neighbourhoods across North America. We always encourage our salon owners to be active community members. They give back in a number of ways, from supporting fundraising efforts like Movember to offering free clipper cuts to cancer patients facing hair loss, and helping families displaced by the Fort McMurray fire. Our franchisees’ community spirit has been the key to our success, and I have every confidence Yasir will carry on this tradition in Fort Saskatchewan.”

The Fort Saskatchewan franchise is the second for Saeed who also owns a Great Clips salon in Sherwood Park. Before becoming a franchisee, Saeed says he discovered Great Clips online when looking to get a haircut. He was so impressed by the experience, he subsequently applied for a franchise. “I had explored other franchise options, but all they wanted to know about was my bank account. Great Clips wanted to know about me as a person. I’m especially proud that as the 150th salon in Canada, we are opening in the same year as Canada’s 150th birthday.”

An added milestone for Saeed is that 2017 is the year that he officially became a Canadian citizen. He says he is committed to developing good relationships with his employees and providing jobs and opportunities in todays’ growing economy. “I’m there to support my employees. When they’re happy, the customers are happy. I know what’s most important to them, so I want to make sure their work supports that and provide them with opportunities that will make their lives better.”
