Famoso Italian Pizzeria + Bar gives back to local communities with Campania Tomato Sauce sales in support of Mealshare

Back for the sixth consecutive year, Famoso Italian Pizzeria + Bar is selling their Campania Tomato Sauce, in support of Mealshare. This hand-milled sauce can be purchased at all restaurants in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, for $8 per jar. For every jar of Campania sauce sold, all proceeds go to Mealshare who will provide a meal to a youth in need, right in the community from which it was purchased.

“We’re proud to be partnering with Mealshare for the sixth year in a row,” says Frank di Benedetto, chief executive officer of Famoso “the organization continues to be an important partner for Famoso and selling our classic Campania Tomato Sauce is a great way to continue our tradition of giving back to the communities that we operate in.”

Mealshare’s mission is to enable and inspire people to join the fight to end youth hunger. Funds raised from last year’s Campania Tomato Sauce sales provided 22,500 meals to in-need youth across Western Canada and Ontario. Since Campania Tomato Sauce sales for Mealshare began in 2014, 28,176 jars of sauce have been purchased to support the 18 local communities in which Famoso operates, and Famoso expects another 5,800 jars to be sold this year.

“We always look forward to partnering with Famoso for the holiday season with the Campania Tomato Sauce campaign and this year is no exception,” adds Andrew Hall, Co-Founder of Mealshare. “Over the last six years, the Campania campaign has raised over $121,888 to help provide meals to hungry youth in Canadian communities, and we’re excited to be kicking off another successful season for the Campania campaign and the children it helps.”

Famoso Pizzeria has recently expanded their relationship with Mealshare with their Pomodoro campaign, a similar initiative supporting Mealshare, that takes place leading up to Easter each year.

Made from only the finest vine-ripened plum tomatoes picked from the rich soils of Mount Vesuvius in Naples, Famoso’s Campania Tomato Sauce is hand-milled and jarred to capture authentic Neapolitan flavour. Available only once a year during the holiday season, Campania Tomato Sauce retails for $8 per 500mL jar. For more information about Campania Tomato Sauce, please visit www.famoso.ca/campania.
