Edo Japan Brings Fresh Eats to Winnipeg

Japanese-inspired quick-service restaurant expands east with first location in Winnipeg

Winnipeg (February 14, 2018)
– Canadian-made eatery, Edo Japan (Edo), continues to grow as it extends into the Manitoba market with the opening of its first Winnipeg location. The Polo Park Mall restaurant marks the first in a series of six Winnipeg openings set to roll out across the city in the coming months.

With 120 locations in Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan, the Japanese-inspired quick-service restaurant continues to gain popularity across the country for its quick, healthy and delicious meal options. Known for both its signature dishes, such as Teriyaki Chicken and Sukiyaki Beef, and new menu favourites, including on-trend bowl features, the Noodlefull Bowl and the Chop Chop Bowl, Edo has become well-loved by the Canadians it serves.

The new Winnipeg restaurant will be one of the first Edo locations to offer a selection of exciting new grab and go menu items, such as popular Japanese snacks like Pocky Sticks and Sriracha Peas; ready-made sushi; and Edo’s popular new Poke bowls, sushi burritos and signature salads made fresh in-store daily.

“We are excited to begin Edo’s growth into eastern markets with a number of new locations in Winnipeg,” said David Minnett, President and CEO, Edo Japan. “We have been inspired by the enthusiasm of our fantastic Winnipeg franchising partner who will be introducing our fresh dining offerings and legendary customer service to another great Canadian city.”

Anchored by its commitment to quality service and ingredients, Edo will introduce the Winnipeg market to it fresh take on traditional Japanese cuisine with franchisee Dinusha Wijesinghe of Pirani Group of Companies set to oversee operations for the first six locations.

“My dream is to contribute to the community by presenting Winnipeg with a new healthy dining option that provides fresh and delicious meals made right before your eyes,” says Wijesinghe, a Winnipeg resident of 15 years. “I believe Edo Japan can contribute to the wellness and diversity of our community, and if I know one thing about Winnipeggers, it’s that they enjoy something new, fresh and unique – I believe that Edo Japan encompasses all of these elements.”

Edo’s newest restaurant is now open at the CF Polo Park Mall food court, located at 1485 Portage Avenue Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
