Canadian Franchise Association celebrates franchise business owners with summer coupon promotion

TORONTO – June 30, 2017 – To celebrate the hard-working franchisees whose businesses help to contribute more than $68 billion annually to Canada’s economy, the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) is encouraging Canadians to “shop local” by visiting franchise businesses in their communities this summer. Coupons from participating franchises will be available on www.franchiseawareness.ca throughout the summer to help Canadians save when they support their local franchisees.

“When people think ‘shop local,’ franchises are not usually the first businesses that come to mind,” says Lorraine McLachlan, CFA’s President and CEO. “What many don’t realize is that franchise locations, although part of a larger network, are small businesses typically run by local owners who are active members of the communities in which their businesses operate. Not only do these franchisees create jobs for their communities, many of them give back to local charities and sponsor local events and organizations.”

In addition to sharing coupons, CFA will also be sharing success stories from franchise business owners to drive home the message that franchisees are small business owners, too. Participating franchises include:
