"Selling the Sizzle: Lessons We Learned Building Ruth's Chris Steak House"
Lana Duke, Legacy Franchisee, Ruth's Chris Steak House
Be inspired by Lana Duke, Legacy Franchisee of Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Learn Lana’s mantras for business and life and understand how perseverance, confidence and a positive outlook can help in overcoming even the greatest of challenges.
Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Lana grew up in a foster home. She left Toronto at age 18 and moved to New Orleans with $350 to her name. Lana got a job in newspaper advertising sales, working her way to advertising director. In 1975, she opened her own ad agency, Duke Unlimited, and grew it into the largest woman-owned agency in the Gulf South.
In 1968, Lana made a sales call on a single mother who was running a popular steak house in New Orleans. Before long, Lana’s agency had the Ruth’s Chris Steak House account, and Lana began a 26-year professional and personal relationship with Ruth Fertel. She became a trusted counsellor within the Ruth's Chris organization, becoming involved with much more than the marketing. Lana was such a believer in the product that, in 1993, she became a Ruth's Chris franchise owner, by opening her first of two restaurants in San Antonio, Texas, and adding additional locations to her portfolio over the years in Toronto and Mississauga, Ontario.
In both her business and personal life, Lana leads by example, working with children in crisis and in the foster care system and helping entrepreneurs and to grow their companies.
In this exciting and must-attend keynote presentation, Lana will share the advantages of having a vision, thinking big, delivering customer satisfaction, going with your gut, living by the "Five P's" of marketing, and more insight gleaned from her vast and colourful experiences. |
