KFC Expanding in Atlantic Canada
For the first time in 20 years, KFC is expanding in Atlantic Canada and is looking for franchisees to open new locations in Newfoundland. Yum! Restaurants Canada, franchisor of KFC, currently operates 80 restaurants in the Atlantic provinces, with more than half slated for renovations over the next two years.
“KFC restaurants in Newfoundland are performing very well and our updated franchise models represent an attractive business opportunity for the brand,” says Sabir Sami, President of Yum! Restaurants Canada. “Currently we’re scouting for new locations in the entire province and we hope the local business community and KFC fans will help show us where we should build our next KFC in Newfoundland.”

CKE Restaurants, Inc., franchisor of Carl’s Jr., recently announced the hiring of Jim Sullivan as Senior Vice President of Domestic Franchise Development and the appointment of Ned Lyerly to Executive Vice President of International.
“With our emphasis on franchise growth, the time was right to split the responsibility for our domestic and international franchise networks among two very capable executives,” the company said in a press release, adding that fiscal 2012 was the first year in which CKE’s international development exceeded domestic development.
Sullivan will focus on development within the United States, while Lyerly, previously Executive Vice President of Global Franchise Development, will focus on expanding the company’s international presence. Currently, the company operates locations in 25 international markets including Canada, where Carl's Jr. recently opened in British Columbia.
