FranchiseCanada Editorial Internship Program

Location: Toronto, Ontario
Start Date: July 6, 2010

FranchiseCanada is offering an editorial internship for students who are interested in working in the magazine publishing industry. The six-week long position is paid ($14.00/hr) and requires a 30 hours a week at the FranchiseCanada offices at 5399 Eglinton Avenue West in Etobicoke, Ontario (close to Pearson International Airport).

About the Position
Reporting to the Editor and working closely with the Listings Coordinator of FranchiseCanada, the Editorial Intern will spend most of their time on the collection, validation and research of company listings for the annual FranchiseCanada Directory. This will include ensuring that listings are layout ready for the design department.

The Editorial Intern will also participate in many aspects of magazine and directory production, including editorial planning, production meetings, research and fact-checking. The Editorial Intern will also have the opportunity to write a regular piece for FranchiseCanada magazine to acquire short published clips for their portfolio.

In addition to work on FranchiseCanada publications, the Editorial Intern will support CFA Communications staff with administrative duties as required.

In return, the Communications Intern will receive masthead credits in the 2011 FranchiseCanada Directory and November/December 2010 issue of FranchiseCanada magazine, while gaining exposure to many aspects of magazine publishing, marketing communications and association administration.

About You
Candidates must be detail-oriented, organized and motivated to work 30 hours a week. The candidate must have complete command of English (both written and spoken), meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy, strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office, web forms and Internet research.
