One questionnaire. Two program choices. A comprehensive benchmarking report.

The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) Awards program comprises two elements: the Awards of Excellence in Franchising and the Franchisees’ Choice Designation. One entry (a fifteen-minute questionnaire), completed by both the franchisor and their franchisees, serves both programs for a given brand.

Participating in the program is exclusive to CFA franchise system members who have been franchising for at least three (3) years or more and have a minimum of six (6) franchisees. There is no charge to participate. Members may participate in either or both of the programs.

The CFA Awards Program recognizes excellence in franchise operations and celebrates the mutually-rewarding relationship between a franchise system and its franchisees.

The award winners are determined based on the results of a survey completed by CFA member franchisors about their experiences with their franchise system and relationships with the franchisors. The CFA Awards Program is sponsored by CFA and administered by InfoFeedback, an independent third-party research firm.

Franchise systems compete each year for these Awards through an independent process that evaluates the calibre and strength of their franchisee relations. The Awards are presented annually to franchise systems that have demonstrated a dedication to superior franchisee relations, team work and communications.

CFA Awards of Excellence in Franchising
The CFA Awards of Excellence in Franchising are the pinnacle of franchise achievement in Canada and are the highest recognition a franchise system can receive from the CFA.

The CFA Awards of Excellence in Franchising program has four categories. These were created to reflect the wide range of franchise opportunities in the marketplace and to enable franchise systems to be rated against their peers. Entries are separated into Traditional Franchises (i.e. those with brick and mortar locations) and Non-Traditional Franchises (i.e. mobile, home-based, etc). Within these categories, entrants are grouped based on the length of time the franchise system has been operating (3-10 years and 11+ years).

Each of the categories has a Gold, Silver and Bronze winner. From amongst the Gold winners in each category, the franchise system with the highest overall score is awarded the CFA Awards of Excellence in Franchising Grand Prize.

Franchisees’ Choice Designation
Recipients of this designation are program participants that have achieved a score that exceeds the benchmark established by CFA. All recipients of this designation are ranked equally and appear alphabetically in a widely promoted list of franchises with solid rankings in franchisee satisfaction.

Benchmarking Report (Optional)
The optional report provides significant added value, especially to those who participate every year.

Benchmarking is vital for business. Understanding the franchisor/franchisee relationship is vital to a franchise system. The report generated by the program provides the average responses for:

  • Your franchisees’ responses, PLUS
  • The responses from all franchisees in the same category, PLUS
  • The responses from all franchisee respondents in all categories

...and includes your own responses for reference.
